How to use this permit directory
Use this page when the load may exceed normal legal size or weight and you need the official permit office, portal, or contact trail for a reviewed state. The table is not a substitute for the permit application itself. It is a shortcut to the agency source that controls application method, routing, travel dates, holiday restrictions, escort rules, bridge review, and any special conditions attached to the move.
The domain note is included because not every official permit system sits on a plain state .gov URL. Some states use a recognized vendor portal or an older official domain. Those links are kept visible with notes rather than hidden, so the user can judge the source trail and move back to the state agency page when needed.

Before applying for a permit
A permit check should come after the basic weight review. Read the scale ticket, identify which axle group or gross weight is over normal legal limits, and confirm whether the proposed route crosses posted bridges, seasonal restrictions, local roads, or non-Interstate segments. Then open the permit source for each state on the route. Multi-state moves often fail because one state is checked carefully while another is treated as if it follows the same routing or travel-time rules.
The permit office can also be the best place to confirm current contact details. Phone numbers, portal names, holiday restrictions, and routing instructions change more often than the basic federal weight framework.
